Hello I'm Anthony and thanks for having a look and a listen. I'm a bassist and song writer . I grew up in Philadelphia and have always as far back as I can remember loved music. My first instrument was drums. My mom purchased a kit for me when I was possibly 6 or 7 years of age and I remember running home everyday to play my drums as I watched American Bandstand. And in those days it was live from Philly. I have to mention that I had an older sister who found pleasure in beating me up . And one day decided to toss my drums down the basement steps. I have to mention also that many weekends she would take me to the Uptown theater to see the Motown Acts and many other great legends of Rhythm and Blues performers. I will never forget sitting there and watching the band play and it was the house band that supported all the acts.
The radio was playing Motown, Stax records ,Atlantic records the sound of Black music was in the air and on the radio. I was drawn to the bass and drums and that bassist was James Jamerson and the Funk Brothers. Real deal stuff. I got my first bass when I was 18 years old . I traded my pioneer AM FM receiver for a cheap bass I had seen at a pawn shop. I would sit by my stereo and practice and just learn songs. Any and everything I wanted to play. Within time I met a guitarist and his name is Gary . And Gary was a gifted guitarist and we were just kids. We started a band he and I and Billy on drums and George on rhythm guitar. We were called Jenny Mae. We played music from The Stones. Bowie, Beatles,Grand Funk and the list goes on.
Within time I started playing in top forty bands and we would travel quite a bit and play nice hotels and the casinos. We would open for show acts in those days. Don Rickles, Dom DeLuise, Buddy Rich and others. I also played with oldie acts from the 60's. Dee Sharp, The Soul Survivors, Platters , Dream Lovers and others. I moved to Las Vegas in 1994 and played with countless bands around town. I must mention also I purchased my first 4 track recorder in probably 1990 and began writing songs.
I took a long break from playing out live and honestly playing with bands, a long break. Happy to say I'm back playing again.
